Beach Towels for Backpack Towels

November 27th, 2009 by hotel_linens

I bought this towel for my grand-daughter, she loved it. She didn’t put it down all the time she was here. These towels are perfect for backpackers too.

You can spend a lot of coin for a synthetic fiber backpack towel or you can buy this one. Same quality as the others great price.

I don’t know what the manufacturing process or key ingredient is for producing these towels, but I was very disappointed to find they reek of chemicals when you take it out of the little plastic container. I haven’t even tried the towel yet because I feel like it needs to go through the wash (and maybe a few good thunderstorms) before I can get near it. Bleh.

I needed a light, inexpensive, and compact towel to send to day camp with my kids. My daughter, who is only 5, carries a very small backpack and I wanted something that would fit along with her lunch and bathing suit. I also figured there’d be a good chance the towel would get lost, so I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. The Lightload Beach Towel is the perfect solution. It takes up very little space. Because the beach towels are full size towels, I even cut it in half for my 5 year old and it’s still plenty big; my 8 year old takes a full size one with him. And if the towels get lost it’s not a big deal – I bought a few extra. I highly recommend these towels!

I liked them because of the light weight but I wish they were more stylish or at least to be able to pick the color. Still a good buy and be carefull when you take them out, my husband ripped one a little (no big deal) but just so you know. I live very close to the beach and they don’t take much space to have them always in my car for my kids and their friends along with some bathing suits,

Very Thin, Very Light, and Very Absorbent. Those are the good qualities. They are a little stiff when dry and I recommend soaking and drying them before your first use so that they are more towel like. In the end, what you are buying is more like a sheet of gauze or a very thing sponge. I could certainly see how these would be useful for camping and/or traveling, if they held up. These are made from a material that I have previously seen used for disposable finger towels in restaurants. It’s not a very durable material and ordinarily I would say these merit 2 to 3 starts as towels.

Now, onto my big complaint and the reason for only giving these 1-star. The packaging claims they are machine washable, but on their first trip in the laundry machine, they shredded. I was a little worried that they might not last very long, and this just confirmed it. They didn’t completely disintegrate, but the fibers separated throughout most of the towel and I would certainly not buy this product again unless I was planning to only use it once, or for one trip. Definitely treat these like the disposable towels that they are.

I got these towels a few weeks ago. Have only washed them a few times, but I really like them so far. They are on the thinner side, but that doesn’t seem to impact their comfort in use and work really well for pool and beach. The size is great for an average size adult. I would definitely get more.

  7. Umphres Says:

Ordered four of these towels and all had holes in them because the terry is so thin. I would expect this for a $2 throwaway towel purchased at a flea market, but not for a $10 towel from Amazon. I am returning my order and would not order these again.

  8. Thayer Says:

These towels are lightweight, cheap, and cheerful, but we were sorry to have bought them, mainly because they bleed color like crazy, even after several dedicated cold water washings. And even with careful laundering, they all end up looking vaguely similar – a reddish-orangeish-nothingness that meant they were OK for summer camp duty but not much else. To their credit, they actually do dry/absorb fairly well so could work as a ‘back-up’ or ‘on-the-go’ towel.

  9. Albine Says:

They really BLED…..they are THIN….they are not something I would
show or share with guests. They look like they should be in the ragbag!
Not happy with them… Sorry I bought them. Cheap

  10. Vasquez Says:

I was disappointed with the thickness of the towels and the amount of water they absorb. The only positive attribute is that they dry quickly.

  11. Jaeger Says:

Im very happy with the towels and have bought several

they hold up in the wash well

  12. Detmer Says:

The beach towel was ok. When I washed it in cold water, it shed some PINK!
So…now I have some new colored clothes in that shade of pink!
I should’ve washed it by itself the first time. It should be fine from now on.
The towel is fine and will do well for the cost. It’s thick and has bright colors.

  13. Aburto Says:

I was initially excited to find inexpensive beach towels at such an unusually inexpensive price as I needed to order alot for the beach-themed bridal shower I had planned for my daughter’s wedding. I ordered the towels and they looked great on the tables – really fit our themed event. I then let people who wanted one of the towels keep them after the event was over. Then alas, my daughter – the new bride of 2 weeks called me very upset that her new bathroom towels, which were washed with one of the beach towels had now turned pink – as well as some other items in her washload – WHAT TO DO???? We tried bleaching them – but they stubbornly remained the new “peachy” color. SOOOO the lesson learned here is that you get what you paid for – Buyer Be Ware!!! I would recommend if you are trusting enough to buy this product that you pre-wash each towel at least 2-3 times before actually using it; that’s unless you also want “strange” underwear popping out of your washer too!!!

  14. Tao Says:

The towels are colorful and inexpensive, just perfect for a gift for guests of a little kid’s swim party! They shipped fast too! Am thrilled with the purchase.

  15. Holly Says:

These towels are fine for how cheap they were. they are very thin, which I personally like for a beach towel, but in the picture they look much thicker. Also the quality isn’t great, but for $4- its about what you should expect. Overall, these towels were exactly what I was looking for and I was thrilled about the price.
