Infants and Toddlers Travel Beds

December 28th, 2009 by hotel_linens

The bed is really cute but a but chunky. It pops open automatically which is half the work already done for you. The hand pump takes time so it’s better if you just purchase a small electrical one that can both inflate and deflate the mattress. It included a sleeping bag which was a real nice surprise. My only complaint is that I can’t get it to compress enough when I pack it back up so it’s a but chunky in the suit case. But all in all it’s a good product. It’s almost like your child has his or her own fort to travel with.

my 2 1/2 year old grandson has outgrown the pack n play for naps, but isn’t ready for a big bed. this cot is the perfect solution for occasional naps at grammy’s house! unfolds in seconds like a beach chair and seems sturdy…then folds back up and gets stored in the closet till next time. the perfect bed for occasional naps or overnights!

i bought this for my two year old son for when he stays the night at his grandparents. He loves it. He sleeps well in it, and its low enough to the ground so I don’t worry about him hurting himself if he falls out. He can get in and out of it easily but there is a slight rise at the edges to kinda help prevent him from rolling out. It unfolds just like a camping chair so its easy to set up. I definitely recommend this product and I know we will be using it for camping, vacations, and trips to grandmas house.

I bought this for my son when he was 2 and a half before we took a trip that would have us visiting a couple of hotels in a couple of different cities with my in-laws. Two years later it has been used so many times I can’t even count. My son LOVES it still and I wouldn’t replace this purchase for anything. I highly recommend it.

I really love this cot. It is lightweight and very convienient. I was able to get my 2 year old to take naps at home easily on this since she was used to a cot at day care. It folds up so small we easily took it on all of our trips and carried it as a carryon on the plane on vacation.

The downfall is that after a while of her not listing and sort of jumping on it or always landing on it to hardly the canvas is not as tight and the poles became somewhat bent.

However, I like this so much I am purchasiing another one right now. :-)

We brought this with us to Disney World and my 2 1/2 year old slept on it for the whole week. It is similar to her daycare nap cot. We were able to put it in the suitcase and it didnt take up a terrible amount of room…my husband was pleased with that. It is real easy to take out of its bag and set up..maybe 2 minutes. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the bar in the middle is really hard and seems uncomfortable. I see why it is needed however. There needs to be some support in the structure of the cot. I put a thick blanket on the cot and then a crib sheet over that. Its worth the low cost if you plan to travel with your little one.

My son and daughter-in-law use the tent for their one-year-old son to nap and play in (in screened comfort!) on their boat and he also likes to play in it in their house. They all love the comfort and convenience.

i was looking for a bed to take on the road/plane as my husband and i travel almost weekly. We started our little guy in it at 3 months and it has been a perfect travel bed. easy to set up, easy to use and so light to carry! The weight was really what attracted me at the beginning…so much lighter than a pack and play and a lot easier to carry. i have been raving about this product and recommend it to all my friends!

This is probably the best money we’ve spent on any baby product. In the first year of our son’s life, we have travelled almost every month, including a two week trip to China. The PeaPod has gone everywhere with us, and has never let us down. It’s light, easy to set up, easy to store. Our son has always slept well in it, and I think he liked the familiarity of the tent when we were in a strange place. My only criticism is that my son, who is on the tall side, grew out of it pretty quickly. He can still fit in it, but is now able to tip the whole thing over if he is really struggling to get out of it, so of course we can no longer use it as a bed (he still likes it as a play tent during the day). We’ll probably buy the PeaPod Plus soon.

We have twin girls who are now 13 months and we have done four trips with these beds. I LOVE them. They fold down very compactly and appear to be very comfortable for the babies.

They are EASY to assemble and break down. You only need to read the directions once and it is SUPER EASY despite what I have read from other reviews. Trust me on this one……I’m not naturally mechanically inclined.

The mattress is slick on the underside and fuzzy on the top. I agree with other reviewers that the mattress cover slides around too much for my comfort. That was completely solved by putting a standard crib sheet over it. With the fuzzy top, I think you could forgo their mattress cover completely.

Their mattress pad transferred blue dye when they drooled on it, but that stopped after washing it once.

I was concerned that my very active girls might be able to tip over these beds, but that appears completely impossible. It just stretches/bends when they roll around a lot.

I put the girls in these beds for four nights before our trips. Even with multiple changes in where they slept (several family homes on a single trip), they seemed quite comfortable tucked away in their pods. It’s like their own little comfort zone in there.

I bought this product a couple years ago, but didn’t use it for our first child; however, we have been using it a bit more for our second child. It is very easy to setup (only takes about 5 minutes) and putting it back in the bag that it comes in is also easy. I would recommend this for kids preschool age and younger, but start using it with them when they are small so they get used to sleeping in it.

  12. Pinnock Says:

Purchased the PeaPod to travel with our granddaughter on vacation. Loved the portability and the ease with which it goes together. I would recommend starting your child in one of these as early as possible, so they are used to it when they get older. My daughter has also used it in a daycare setting.

  13. Ingels Says:

This portable bed easily fits in my suitcase and doesn’t add much weight. I ordered this because I didn’t want to deal with a Pack N Play when travelling by plane. This tent is very light. Folds up easily, but it’s even easier to set up. You just slip off the elastic band and STAND BACK. I smacked myself in the face with the tent the first time I set it up. So definitely make sure you get out of the way. But the convenience of this thing is well worth the money, and my baby loves feeling like he has his own cozy space to sleep in.

  14. Mosqueda Says:

We bought thi travel bed initially for a camping trip. We needed a way to keep our 10 month old secure in a bunk–but she wasn’t old enough for just a bedrail under the mattress. Needless to say the is one of the BEST baby purchases we have made since we’ve had a baby. Money, extremely well-spent. We hardly ever cart the pack and play around anymore, unless we are going on an extended stay. Easy to set-up, take down, AND a pack n play sheet will fit over the self-inflating mattress (which does work, but takes longer than blowing it up yourself). Also, love the carry bag, weighs litte, and you can just throw it over your shoulder. Awesome product–don’t hestitate to buy.

  15. Fulbright Says:

Great portable product – easy to fold down. Surprised at how little the self inflating mattress expands; it did work really well on our vacation.

  16. Quintelier Says:

Our daughter loves her little tent. She takes naps in it on the weekend when we are home. One bad thing is the zipper makes noise, so if they’re already sleeping and you want to zip it up…it could wake them up. Was suprised how easy it was to setup…popped right open. We like the size, because we are taking this with us to our Aruba Vacation in December.

  17. Ashton Says:

I originally got online to search for a baby tent to use at the beach, and then my eye fell on the pea pod travel bed. I got it in the mail just in time for a weekend music festival, where it more than proved its worth. We used it in the pop-up camper for bedtime, outside in the shade during naps, and even took it down for the baby to lay/play in while we listened to music. Very light and portable, I found it easy to fold, and although I bought it for my 3month old baby, my three year old found it novel and took a couple naps in it himself. Since then we’ve taken it to friends houses so we can put the baby to bed there, and she plays in it happily in the kitchen floor while I cook…. it’s soooo much nicer/lighter/more space efficient to haul along than a pack and play. Not made exactly for beach cover, but it keeps her out of the sand and we drape a towel over or place the pod under the umbrella. Anyway, I am really happy with the functionability and travel-friendliness of this item.
